Dear People of God,

There is so much to celebrate and so much to share!

To begin, how my heart was pleased as we celebrated Easter at St. John. We gave glory to God for Jesus coming out of that Empty Tomb with all power and authority in His hand. Our worship that day reflected the great joy we felt in our hearts for what the Lord has done for us!

I cannot leave out what was missing that day: If you were away or absent, we certainly missed your presence. Even though you could not be with us, we felt your love and spirit and lifted you up in prayer.

I cannot mention Easter without saying how well our Holy Week services went. Our mid-week worships were well attended and provided opportunities for us to draw even closer to our Lord. I don’t think any of us emerged from Lent the same way we entered.

The season of Easter continues for a few more weeks, until Ascension Day, May 14, 2026. On that Thursday we will enjoy an Ascension Day Service here at St. John at 7pm. We invite you to join us as we celebrate the ascension of Jesus Christ as He returns to sit at the right hand of the Father, there to intercede for us.

Rev. Gary Georgi of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Amherst will be our speaker. We will also have communion at that service. Light refreshments will be served following the service.

I hope you can join us as we celebrate Mother’s Day this year. We will have a special service and afterward we will enjoy “Muffins with Mom” in the fellowship Hall.

With warmer weather and weather permitting, I invite you to participate in our first outdoor worship of the season on Sunday, May 24, 2026, which is Memorial Day weekend, and we will honor those who have served and gone to their heavenly rest. We will enjoy a time of fellowship afterward.

With all our celebrating and rejoicing taking place, we certainly don’t want to forget another big day ahead for the Christian Church: Pentecost Sunday is just around the corner, and we give thanks for those who came before us established the first Church.

I’m will stop here but I will continue to keep you updated about what is happening here at St. John.

May our Savior and Lord be glorified in your actions as you love and return love to those who may not know Him as the Great Shepherd and the King of Love.

I look forward to seeing you in church soon if you are able, or, otherwise, I look forward to seeing you as we make our visitation.

In His Love and Service,

Rev. Dr. Bertram Lewis Sr., Pastor
