A Sacred Space for Healing, growth, and Sisterhood

Women's Message
Hello, Dear Friends and Sisters!
Picture yourself in a well-lit room, tiny candles with gentle flickering flames dancing throughout, various genres of music, some lyrics reminding you of your beauty and strength, resilience and purpose, or of God’s amazing, embracing love, others soothing instrumentals, playing in the background, a table of delicious snacks and beverages, the sound of crayons and colored pencils moving across paper, warm embraces, laughter and shared peace…
If you have been able to see this in your mind, you have just seen our upcoming Women’s Journaling Workshop: “I Am Beautiful, I Am Blessed.”
Maybe you’ve already heard, talked to your friends, or have one of the invitations lying on your desk or pinned to your fridge, inviting you to come join us and be part of this wonderful workshop on June 6, 2026, from 10:45-1pm.
I hope you have put the date and time on your calendar! It’s going to be a spirit-filled time as we gather for this wonderfully creative worship experience!
You might super-excited like I am, looking forward to what the Holy Spirit is going to do within each attendee, how the Lord will make His presence known as we gather for the purpose that begins with journaling but is interwoven with healing, strengthening, and releasing women to connect with God in a different way.
But you may be hesitant and not planning on attending. Journaling may not be for you…After all, you’re not the creative kind, you don’t really take to journaling, writing, making lists; you’re just not that woman but you hope everyone who attends has a good time…maybe next time you’ll try it.
I respect that.
Because the art or process of journaling is new to many of you, I’d like to take a moment today to talk about the difference between journaling and keeping a diary. They may sound alike, after all both involve writing, right? Well, yes and no.
To begin, let’s consider this: a diary records your days. Journaling reveals your heart.
A diary is usually about what happened — where you went, who you saw, what you did. It’s a record of events, activities, and daily life. A lot of people use their social media platform as a creative way to keep a daily diary. When you log onto their page, you might see some amazing pics or videos that show you what they did, and you get to read some incredibly captivating and well-written posts that go along with the pics. Today’s technology provides so many opportunities for us to express the creative side of us.
But journaling is different. Journaling is deeper. Journaling is reflective. It’s spiritual. It’s emotional. It’s honest. It’s cleansing. It’s enlightening. It’s purging. It’s opening us up to God’s gentle guidance. Journaling isn’t about reporting your day — it’s about exploring your soul.
As a Christ-centered, Spirit-led and filled woman, when you journal, you are asking yourself questions like: What am I feeling? What is God showing me? What am I learning about myself? Where am I healing or growing? What truth do I need to hold onto?
Journaling is not about how neat your handwriting is or perfect sentence structure. It’s not about grammar or structure. It’s not even about writing something “worth reading” by others. Journaling is personal. When we journal, we have entered a sacred space with God. Journaling is about slowing down long enough to hear your own thoughts and to hear God’s voice. Journaling helps us cultivate and create a sacred space to spend time with God.
As I sat with the Holy Spirit having conversation, I talked with Him about the focus that felt so important for us as women. Some of us are a little life-weary, some feel broken, some need to be renewed, some need to enjoy a quiet time with the Lord, some need to experience healing in a number of ways, some need to set their creative juices free, some could use a loving atmosphere where they are renewed and affirmed by the Lord and others. I spoke with the Spirit about what I saw in my mind, and He talked to me about what He saw and wants to happen. Together we came up with an experience you won’t want to miss.
To be sure, there will be other creative worship opportunities coming up. I am thinking about one for caregivers and the ones they care for, grandma’s and grandchildren, those who are grieving or processing a loss…other opportunities to come and sit and spend time with God and others: times for self and God discovery. There will be other opportunities, but none will duplicate what will happen on the 6th of June. The Spirit will move and be present at each gathering, but He will show up in a different way each time.
So, I want to personally extend an invitation to you; invite you to come, not to write a diary entry. But come to reflect, to breathe, to listen, to heal, to take in the warmth and loving atmosphere where other women are gathered. Come, and let God meet you on the page.
Even as you are responding positively in your heart and thoughts, saying, “Yes, Cheryl, I’ll see you there!” Remember: a diary records your life. Journaling transforms your life.
With Love,
Cheryl-Ann, Director of Women’s Ministries
